Talent Recruitment and Employee Structure
In 2022, the number of TBB employees totaled 5,424 which were all official full-time employees (excluding contracted workers such as security). The Bank does not hire parttime employees. Among full-time employees, males accounted for 44.80% while females accounted for 55.20%. Managers accounted for 19.43%, and 46.30% of them were female managers. It is clear that TBB does not have sexual discrimination against females and provides a fair playing field in the work place. The Bank sets the target for any gender at 40% - 60% to ensure gender equality. TBB has formulated and implemented a method of extended unpaid leave. Employees can apply for such leave based on actual requirements for childrearing or recovering from illnesses. Employees can return to the workplace without worries after making suitable arrangements for the care of their children.
In addition, TBB continues to care for vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities and indigenous peoples. The ratio of people with disabilities and indigenous employees hired by TBB meet regulatory requirements and we provide them with the same salary and benefits as regular employees. Over the years, TBB has provided many summer work opportunities to college students and young people from economically disadvantaged families. The opportunities are provided to improve their understanding of the banking industry for potential future employees. The important business premises of the Bank include the head office units and branches, and the managerial employees are all Taiwanese nationals.
Non-employee workers (not counted toward number of employees):
- TBB hired 22 summer student workers (6 males and 16 females assigned to handle word processing and other general administrative duties) from July 1, 2022 to August 31, 2022 through fixed-term employment contracts.
- TBB engaged in industry-academia collaboration with schools through fixed-term internship contracts from February 21, 2022 to June 24, 2022. The departments offering internships appointed supervisors to act as the instructors to supervise interns and provide technical guidance and practical banking training during the period. A total of 91 students gained firsthand workplace experience with the Bank.
- The head office building has 3 cleaners who work as contractors. Their work consists of cleaning the staircases in public areas, pantries, washrooms, hallways, elevators, and cafeteria floor.
- The employee cafeteria on the 18th floor of the head office building has 6 cooks who are under contract to supply and distribute food for TBB employees during lunchtime. A Chinese buffet and noodles are prepared onsite.
